We need to produce more sustainable and robust agrifood products that can be resilient to climate change and that are able to feed the population. R&D activities in space can help to accelerate this process, by offering quicker ROIs and better overall efficiency.
Thanks to space, sustainable agriculture and food project can flourish. They can benefit greatly from space phenomena like microgravity, extreme conditions in space itself and the vantage point of the International Space Station (ISS). Research into plants and food in space can have a relevant positive impact on Earth. Think of the development of new fertiliser, new packaging material to increase shelf life, novel ways of growing crops and many other products and/or processes.
